Discussion Message (to post in Moodle):

Dear trainees,

Welcome to this week’s discussion forum. Electrical safety is one of the most important aspects of electrical engineering practice. As future technicians and engineers, you are expected to understand and apply safety measures both in the workshop and in the field.

In this discussion, reflect on the following:

Question:
Why is electrical safety critical in electrical engineering practice, and how can unsafe working habits affect individuals, equipment, and the workplace environment?

In your response, you may consider the following points:

  • The importance of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

  • Safe isolation and lock-out/tag-out procedures

  • Effects of electric shock and fire hazards

  • Responsibility of technicians in ensuring safety compliance

  • The impact of negligence on productivity and reputation

Instructions:

  1. Post your main response (at least 100–150 words).

  2. Read and respond to at least two classmates’ posts — add insights, examples, or constructive comments.

  3. Use real-life examples from your experience, attachment, or observation where possible.

Let’s share ideas and learn from one another as we build a culture of safety in our profession!

Best regards,
Mr. Hanningtone Lupao
