Lupao Electrical Engineering Institute (LEEI) is a proposed Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institution established to address the growing demand for skilled electrical and electronics professionals in Kenya and beyond. Course Description
The Electronics Engineering course is designed to develop competent technicians and technologists with the knowledge and practical skills required to design, construct, test, and maintain electronic systems and devices.
The course blends theoretical principles with hands-on training, preparing learners to work with both analog and digital electronics, communication systems, microprocessors, control systems, and embedded technologies. It emphasizes problem-solving, circuit analysis, fault diagnosis, and application of modern electronic technologies across industries.
Graduates will be able to apply electronic principles in the development of efficient, safe, and sustainable systems for industrial, communication, and consumer applications. The program also nurtures innovation and entrepreneurship to promote self-reliance and job creation.
Course Objectives
By the end of this course, trainees should be able to:

Course Duration

Diploma: 3 years (modular system with industrial attachment).

Craft Certificate: 2 years (modular system with attachment).

Artisan / Short Course: 3–6 months (practical-focused).
Entry Requirements

Diploma: Mean Grade C- (KCSE) with C- in Mathematics, Physics, or Physical Science.

Craft Certificate: Mean Grade D (KCSE) or equivalent qualification.

Artisan Level: Open entry for those with interest in electronics and basic literacy skills.
Examination and Certification
Assessment and certification will be conducted by KNEC, NITA, or TVETA under the Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) framework.
Successful trainees will receive a National Certificate or Diploma in Electronics Engineering.

The Solar Installation and Maintenance course is designed to equip trainees with the practical skills and technical knowledge required to design, install, test, maintain, and troubleshoot solar photovoltaic (PV) systems for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
With the growing demand for clean and renewable energy in Kenya and across Africa, this course prepares learners to participate effectively in the renewable energy sector by providing competency-based training that aligns with TVETA, EPRA, and NITA standards.
The program emphasizes hands-on experience, enabling trainees to understand solar energy principles, system sizing, component selection, wiring, installation, and maintenance of both stand-alone (off-grid) and grid-tied solar systems. Safety, quality assurance, and environmental sustainability are integral parts of the training.

The Electrical Principles course is a comprehensive technical program designed to equip trainees with practical skills, theoretical knowledge, and professional competencies required in the design, installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical and electronic systems.
This program combines competency-based training and hands-on industrial experience, preparing learners to work effectively in both domestic and industrial electrical environments. The course covers key areas such as power generation, transmission and distribution, electrical machines, control systems, instrumentation, renewable energy systems, and electronic circuit design.
